We are mixing uv and pip which seems to be breaking things. We need to use pip uniformly everywhere.

That's fine, but they are not exclusive; uv is designed to work with something that is only pip. What specific thing did uv break? I don't even know what has been tried that broke the flow.

pip cannot handle dependencies the way that uv does; they need to be in PyPi or installed when local (see e.g., #43)

MCPs are typically used with uvx and selectively installing which ones to install. A single meta-package may not be the best solution here.

Yeah, let's abandon the meta package approach. It will only get more complicated.
