Efficiency of block lists

I'd like to raise the issue of the efficiency of block lists. I use HaGeZi's Pro++ Blocklist and I noticed that it blocks app-measurement.com but not app-measurement.com/sdk-exp

Using AGH syntax it will block the domain as a whole - including any subdomains and any additional URL prefixes/suffixes.

What does your query log show when trying to go to the URL - I just tested and mine is blocked as expected

The syntax is for the URL, but DNS works only on the hostname or domain name. DNS protocol doesn’t know anything about the rest of the URL, (every thing after the trailing slash is meaningless to DNS).

Not sure if the check system knows what to do if you enter the entire URL. Use hostname only in the box for testing. Furthermore, make sure you are using the same client. The built-in test might be checking from the AGH server’s point of view while checking from your client could have a different result, if there are client specific rules.

I just noticed you can specify the client for the test. If I enter a full URL (which DNS doesn’t understand) it shows “not in blocklist.” However if I enter the hostname only, it does properly show it’s blocked by Hagezi.

The query log will give you the definitive result. OP didn’t mention how the results were determined.
