Is it possible to add a Row Number column in the browser so that one can look at the position of the note / card in the list? Or some placeholder where it can show how many are above and how many are below when a particular row is selected?

It can help me to
a. Revise notes sequentially and resume if I get interrupted.
b. Resume edits to cards after filtering.

This will help keep track of progress. How many were complete, how many are still pending, etc.
The row numbers should stay the same regardless of whatever sort order is selected.

I don't understand what you mean by "serial number" or "ow many are above and how many are below"

All notes and cards have a unique id that doesn't change and you can show these with the advanced browser if you have the add-on setting "show internal fields" enabled. These ids are the creation time in milliseconds in unix time. So if you sort by the note id the browser table is sorted by date created.

When it comes to reviewing: Anki randomizes the order of cards you review. So there's no fixed order of cards you'll see in the future that's stable for a long time. So you can't really sort by the queues the scheduler temporarily builds internally.

Let me explain... What I want is simply a column at the left that always starts from 1 and starts counting the number of rows. I hope, that the following screenshots explain what I want. I can tell that there are 5 notes above and only (7-6) notes left to process (edit, revise using preview, etc.) The screenshot above is a simplified use case. I could have filtered a list that is 1000 notes. If I am working on note 550, then I just want an indicator that I am working on No. 550 This workflow might be a very unique use case that only I use. So you want to have row numbers (line numbers) on the left side of the table - just as in spreadsheet software like Excel or LibreOffice Calc so that there's a "1" next to the first line, a "2" next to the second line and so on (irrespective of which cards or notes are actually shown in this line).

Yes, You have correctly understood my requirement. No need to worry about sort order or any other identifier. It should only show the row number in the list. I like this idea.

The problem is that in the last two years there have been few enhancements of this add-on and there are already many open feature requests. So I don't know when or if someone will implement this.
