"Not allowed to load local resource" error with local redirect address

I changed the redirect address to "chrome://newtab" and it gives this error:

> Not allowed to load local resource: chrome://newtab/

And then, if you visit a blocked website (e.g. Facebook), some of it loads. Strange behavior.

Can we prevent local addresses from being entered? Or perhaps bypass this error? And can you reproduce this error to confirm?
