The log you attached is just informational things about what BlueSCSI is doing - it configured a button but if you're not using it, nothing to worry about. It seems you have debug on - could you attach the entire log? is there an err.log as well? Please test 2 things - flash the December 2024 release https://github.com/BlueSCSI/BlueSCSI-v2/releases/tag/v2024.12.08 and test. Also please test a patch release we're working on here and test (click BlueSCSI binaries to download) https://github.com/BlueSCSI/BlueSCSI-v2/actions/runs/16526931300 |

This BlueSCSI v2 external worked with the previous firmware (didn't capture the old version number but it's what it shipped with in June 2025). After upgrading to 2025.07.11-rel, its presence on the SCSI bus seems to prevent the Performa from booting.
Initial view of the logfile included phrases like this:
[1344ms] ID: 1, Eject button: #1
[1345ms] DBG No removable media found for 2 eject buttons, skipping.
[1939ms] Waiting for USB enumeration to enter Card Reader mode.
[3040ms] Waiting for USB enumeration timed out after 1000ms.
[3040ms] -- Try increasing 'USBMassStorageWaitPeriod' in the bluescsi.ini
During this time, the machine was at a grey screen trying to decide between the happy mac and not. If I leave the machine sitting for long enough (5+ minutes), the internal HD starts to spin up and the OS (System 7.5.3) gets partway through boot before hard locking. Worth noting that this generation has an external SCSI bus but the internal HD (and CDROM, I think) are IDE.
Also worth noting that when the BlueSCSI is connected with no SD card installed, the Mac's behavior is the same. When the BlueSCSI is disconnected, the Mac boots normally off the internal HD (this HD is original to the machine, with the apple firmware and everything).
Any thoughts? I'm still relatively new to the vintage Mac scene, and unsure how to troubleshoot this further. I can include the extended logs if that's helpful but it's looking like this EJECT BUTTON 1 is the beginning of the trouble at each boot.
