We are playing with some ideas around export markets. We have been thinking about the tariff situation, but we're also just thinking about how growing luxury goods brands in SA that produce high quality items but face a saturated local market can expand their operations internationally, and how that can perhaps support domestic employment and industry.
We are wondering if you have done any further work on the goods exports channel/are currently working on it? (I see OG-Core is still Capital and Bonds). If not, do you have any thoughts on how to simulate an exports market in the model? E.g., is there a simple 'create a hypothetical 8th consumer group which stands in as the export market' solution? Or perhaps on where we could start if we wanted to work on adding goods flows to OG-ZAR itself?
I think it's a worthwhile addition, so I'm happy to spend some time on it in the new year if someone isn't already working on it, but we thought we should reach out in any case.
