Identiconizer Is Only Changing About Half My icons

Both "Create identicons" and "Automatic identicons" only change about half the icons in my contacts.

I am trying to find a pattern here but I see none yet. Nothing to do with spaces, the presence of an address, the country code, if there are messenger accounts linked, nothing.

All of my contacts are on my Device, not in a google account, and many are linked to messengers too.

I am using Lineage OS 16 on a Pixel 2 walleye. Oh, I have Magisk too, it is rooted. Magisk contains the Xposed framework in it.

Ok, so I went into "Contacts list" and then chose "Select all" and then hit the plus sign + and it successfully made identicons for all my contacts...

This is interesting. Shouldn't the "Create identicons" be identical to my algorithm above? If not, maybe an easy fix is to make it like what I just did.

depending on how you are checking, you may be encountering a caching view issue, requiring going into 3rd party app, force stop, clear its cache to see the newly generated icons.

to verify what has been generated first, use the in-app "contacts list" to see what is shown.

don't forget that the batch generate option is not supposed to do anything for contacts that already have associated pictures, in that case you will need to proceed as you did in the "contacts list", manually specifying "select all".

finally, contacts app has settings to specify what is normally shown or hidden, for example don't consider work contacts part of normal contacts, in which case the batch generate would work on all your contacts except work contacts, unless you use the final "show all contacts" option to ignore those restrictions.
