Merach R50 upgrade

Hi,
I finished my rebuild and upgrade in my Merach R50.

• RPI 3B+
• 5” touch screen
• 3D printed covers
• Hall sensor
• 3 magnets 5x3mm - 3D printed holder

Very nice. I need to actually finish the mounting for mine. I 3D printed a tablet holder to replace the stock monitor, but the pi zero is still stuck to the back with 3M tape.

Out of curiosity, what kind of sensor does this rower have out of the box? I didn't bother to check, I just plugged the cable for the stock sensor into my pi.

I think the consensus was reed, based on convo over here and the fact it’s 2 vs 3 wires out

Is there an advantage to the hall effect sensor over a reed switch? Besides the solid state/mechanical difference which will probably effect longevity of the sensor.

Reed do not suffer from bounce and produces less noisy signal. Also they are more consistent in terms of trigger point.
