Installation via pip

Hi!
I am trying to install the AB on my Windows 11 laptop. Unfortunately, I am working in an organisation with more than 200 employees so I have to pay a subscription for using conda and I do not see my organisation paying for it (we already have access to another paid LCA software).

As an alternative, I am using VS Code and pip to manage my Python environments. I tried a pip install activity-browser on a fresh Python 3.15.5 environment and I got:

ERROR: pip's dependency resolver does not currently take into account all the packages that are installed. This behaviour is the source of the following dependency conflicts.                                             
brightway2 2.4.7 requires bw2analyzer<0.10.99, but you have bw2analyzer 0.11.8 which is incompatible.

After activating the environment with this installation error, the command activity-browser returns:

'activity-browser' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

Has anybody successfully installed the AB via pip? And would there be a list of compatible versions of brightway packages working for activity-browser-3.0.0b957?

Hi @AdelineJerome,

You've stumbled upon the Activity Browser 3 beta installation by accident. It is built on top of Brightway25 and not the legacy brightway=2.4.7 version that is also (being) installed.

If you want to install Activity Browser 2.11 into your environment the following command should do the trick:
pip install git+https://github.com/mrvisscher/activity-browser.git@alternate-build

I am pretty sure that will only work for python=3.10 as a maximum version though.

I successfully installed the AB in a Python 3.10 environment with the command you sent.
