can' install tools

Hello, i am facing the following problem: when i try to run make install, it gives me following error:
/usr/bin/ld: lpi_find_unknown.o: in function `cleanup_signal(int)': /home/administrator/libprotoident/tools/find_unknown/lpi_find_unknown.cc:382: undefined reference to `trace_pstop'
What i am doing wrong?

Hi,

The most likely problem is that you're building against an outdated version of libtrace. The packaged version in the official Debian / Ubuntu repositories has not been updated in years.

If you installed libtrace using apt, try running dpkg -l | grep libtrace -- if the libtrace major version is 3, then you'll need to upgrade libtrace. Follow the instructions at https://github.com/LibtraceTeam/libtrace/wiki/Installing-Libtrace to install the most recent libtrace release from our Cloudsmith package repository.
