Discovering new WebVR/XR experiences

Our current content discovery is something hard-coded/curated like the webvr directory (https://webvr.directory/), twitter, reddit, and then other content could be found searching through parcels in virtual worlds like decentraland and cryptovoxels.

Even if you are searching for content in google, you will probably hit 2d sites before finding the 3d one you were looking for.

Wanted to open this up to discussion..

What other pain points are there with discovering content currently and how could we solve them? How do people currently discover new WebXR/VR content?

This was mentioned shortly in a recent M3 meet, but I've started working on an "XR search", a solution to lack of a good way to discover content.

The search will be focused around 3d sites and will index all of the above mentioned places to find content manually (webvr directory (https://webvr.directory/), twitter, reddit, parcels in virtual worlds like decentraland and cryptovoxels).

I am planning on presenting this at M3 as soon as it is in a demo-able state. Here is a screenshot of the progress of it being integrated into the Exokit front end (without a good front end, all it is.. is a pretty boring json output from the search):

Here is one of my experiences:

1. Open desktop
2. Launch web browser
3. Google "WebVR experiences"
4. Search results, click to new tabs
5. Visit the site of certain experiences
6. Grab HMD + Controllers
7. Launch Oculus Browser
8. Hunt and peck URL
9. Launch VR button
10. Enjoy something..

Start back at step 8, lift up headset to look for new URL or just visit the experiences directory in Oculus browser so to not have to retype URL's

I think if browsers could sync bookmarks with a standalone HMD it'd save a lot of time.
