Installing WiFi module - is there any reason we don't have any headers?

As above, trying to install a wifi module 'Realtek RTL8188GU' Normally I'd just pull out of tree and get dpkg to build locally.
There are no headers for this Arbian 6.1.67 so I cannot do it.

Can I upgrade the kernel to 6.12 (and headers) There are held packages I can over-ride but wondering if something will break.

So far my option seem to be (open to suggestions)

Force upgrade of kernel
find headers 6.1.67
See if I can install 6.1.67 on another system, build a ko and transfer over

get a new dongle

any ideas?

Upgraded kernel and manually installed dtb's, pulled blob needed and wifi is working.

Since this is not recommended, you probably don't want to share detailed instructions? (I'm waiting for a new O4N version to upgrade from Bookworm to Trixie - which would also provide a 6.12 kernel and likely a matching linux-headers package.)

It was quite some time ago so I've forgotten. I do remember it being a pain is the arse and having to port in via usb serial to fix a mistake I made going to 6.12, depending on how long the wait is I'd be tempted to wait if you can as even uboot was janky/a pain too

It was a long night and many beers to get it all working, I hope in future things like headers are included as standard as it makes life so much easier

I specifically bought a TL-WN725N / Realtek RTL8811AU (Acer T2U, T2UH) WiFi module for the previous firmware version, now nothing works (
