How to correctly upgrade to 1.7?

Hi there,
Since there were a few issues with the new version of OpenNept4une i want to ask a very basic question.
What is the correct/recommend way to install the new 1.7 release?
Is it necessary to flash the printer again, or can I use the OTA updates?

In the wiki there are some sections which explain how you can go from Stock to OpenNept4une, but there was no section about us folks who have been using this great rom for a long time now (at least i did not find one).

I only have this one printer and I want to let it stay alive and work when I need it ;)
