error on code page 5

when i ran the code on page 5 i get the error:

ValueError: could not convert string to float: ' ?'

in this code

df.apply(lambda x:pd.to_numeric(x))

Kindly give more information about which code you ran and got the error. Also in the heading you mentioned page 5 while in your comment you said page 8. So please mentioned that too what's the exact page number.
