Unable to create new issue on Android (firefox/chromium)

When I press the "New issue" button from the side menu, the New issue modal shows in the background. I am unable to create the new issue because the modal disappears whenever I touch the screen.

Steps to reproduce:
Open peppermint on android
Log in
Open the left side menu
Click 'New issue' from the menu

result: New issue modal shows in the background and disappears when I close the side menu.
expected result: Side menu closes and New issue window has focus.
