move data storage to hdf5

this would eliminate the need for the mongodb instance in favour of a file-based storage that can be replicated through distributed mechanisms (ipfs...). it would even allow the api to just run as a desktop app through node-webkit (think of it like a bittorrent client) and the file format does exactly what it is supposed to do:
