Menus and buttons interface for adding objects is inconvenient

"We need to get to either a drag-n-drop or a select then place approach for adding objects. The need to select the target, select the object, and then push a third button is kind of cumbersome. I know we are in dev mode now but it would be good to begin thinking of ways to improve that. I wonder how LucidChart does there object adding the canvas. It is very intuitive. Related to item 5 above."

I think a palette type interface would be ideal, mootcycle is thinking a toolbar of icons at the top. Either way, the current interface involving selections should still be an option, probably hidden in some drop down menus.
