Direct Button IO on pcb

Hi, love your project!!! I am a noob, could you tell me something more on how to use the extra "Direct_Button_IO" pins on the PCB?
There is also a "no arduino pin" mention on the back? This looks like a supercool board. Would it be compatible with Authentikit? Any plans for a throttle design?
