Sorting Git Terminal in VS Code

The question

How do I set up my Git terminal in VS Code? I can run git from a git bash terminal, but I cannot get the git terminal in VS code.

What I think the answer is

Maybe I'm missing a line in the .json settings?

What research I have already done

Extensive googling. Read StackOverflow, github, MS troubleshooting. I've given multiple file locations suggested for git.path in settings.json as suggested on various StackOverflow comments and none work. I've done VS code and full PC reboots to try and initialise. I have signed in to github in VS code and that seems fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled VS code and git in different orders. Still can't use a git terminal in VS code.
