Hi @JohnMertz, We are currently using MailCleaner in our environment and would like to know if it's already recommended to switch to SpamTagger for production in new installations, or if we should continue using MailCleaner for now. Thanks in advance for your support! |

Hi, Just a quick point of clarification because I decided to go with a confusing naming scheme. Perhaps you already know this, but to be clear SpamTagger Plus will be the direct continuation of MailCleaner while simply SpamTagger will be a simplified fork which I'll work on when the first release of SpamTagger Plus is complete and will be where more of the active development effort goes in the future (with some features getting ported to SpamTagger Plus when relevant). Currently SpamTagger Plus is an exact copy of the MailCleaner repository, so changing to it would actually not have any negative impact right now, but that will NOT remain true. I'll be pushing many major changes in order to make SpamTagger Plus compatible with Debian Trixie and trying to use it on an existing MailCleaner installation will cause it to break. When the first release of SpamTagger Plus is ready, I'll produce new VM images and you'll need to migrate by copying your database and all of your bulk data from the old MailCleaner machine to the new SpamTagger Plus machine. I'll have detailed instructions on how to do this when it is available. I included more details on my progress in the latest comment on the previous discussion topic. In summary, I have everything working except the WebUI on Debian Trixie, but once that is fixed I still have a decent amount of work before I can provide VM images. It won't be until at least late August before I can commit the necessary time to solve those problems, so you'll have to hold off for a while longer. Thanks for your continued interest and I hope to have more good news in the coming months! |
