New user having trouble with file sharing

Hi folks,

I've just started using BookPlayer in a mixed Linux/Mac household. All our audiobooks are on a Linux file server and made available via samba.

I'm trying to find the best way to import audiobooks from the file server to our iOS devices. Using "Import files" (having connected my device to the file server so the smb directory shows in iOS files) works, but is very temperamental.

• I can't seem to select more than one audiobook at a time or the process fails
• Even when selecting a single file, the "Open" command seems to be intermittent. I can't tell whether BookPlayer is actually importing the file or not until the next dialogue pops up

Sometimes, after selecting "Import x files into library" I note that the audiobook length says "0s". Looking in the processed directory I see the file but it's size is a fraction of the actual size on the server.

If I mount the share on my Mac and try AirDrop it fails. If I use AirDrop with files on the Mac HD it works but the audiobook only ends up in my iOS download directory. I then have to import it into BookPlayer - but that then makes a copy in the "Processed" directory so I end up with two copies of the audiobook on my device taking up twice the space.

Maybe I'm missing something? However I'm not finding much detail in the FAQ - are there other docs I should be looking at?

BookPlayer looks like the perfect solution for our family but at the moment it is not in any way wife friendly.

Hi @stewday ! could you try going directly to the Files app and 'sharing' the files from there? UX is more consistent from there, meaning that the integration with the Files app through BookPlayer we don't really control how things behave once it's presented, and we've had reports like yours before, where the UI seems to hang, but in reality it's downloading books, and the problem is that the loading feedback is not shown (well the part about the file not being completely there is new)

Let me know if going through the Files app directly and sharing from there to BookPlayer works, or if the issues you've had continue
