FIXML 4.2 DTD version (test3.xml, test4.xml)

I'm not really sure if I understand the purpose of test3.xml (which is malformed #8) and test4.xml. They are both based on the FIXML 4.2 DTD version (as far as I can tell) while the document says:

The solution transformation should take as input a text file of a message in XML FIXML 4.4 Schema format

Therefore these two files should be considered as being a wrong input?

@fikovnik I'm no authority here, but I don't care about the FIXML version and consider them valid input (I've fixed the malformedness in test3.xml locally).

I mean, how could you know which version a FIXML message is based on other than by running some validator with every DTD/XSD version on them?

I understand that there are two XML versions of FIXML (DTD based, and Schema based). The difference between the two can be easily made either by the validation (as you suggest) or simply by looking at the XML structure. Since the document explicitly stresses that it should be FIXML 4.4 Schema format then I suppose they really mean it :-)

@fikovnik Nobody except @kevinlano can tell us with authority, and since he doesn't, I guess your strict and my laissez-faire approach are both justifyable.
