18.1.1.X Cave client will not render wind barb

From within a VMWare Virtual machine, surface observations and other wind-barb data is not rendering.
Deployed the docker tag of Cave version 17 and this feature works, however the 18.X does not.

Exception is thrown:
Error creating plot with plotModel stdObsDesign.svg
Could not find valid extension for class: interface com.raytheon.uf.viz.core.drawables.ext.IsSingleColorImageExtension

You are probably receiving that error because SVG graphics are hard-coded in CAVE to use nvidia OpenGL rather than the alternative MESA driver available on VMWare. There is a workaround for this that involves making a small change to a java class file. If you are familiar with docker, I could provide the compiled file and you could add the file and commit the container to retain the change.

@WxmanJ - I'm interested. Having several similar issues with the CloudAWIPS docker image running on a Windows Docker installation. Can't render a decent amount of plots because of the error creating plot with plotModel errors.

Are you able to modify the source code for AWIPS, or are you only able to work with the compiled plugins/class files? The idea here is to tell the plotting function to use MESA OpenGL to plot using software rendering.

If you are able to work with the AWIPS ADE in Eclipse, you can try altering com.raytheon.viz.core.gl/src/com/raytheon/viz/core/gl/ext/imaging/GLSingleColorImageExtension.java.

First import import com.raytheon.viz.core.gl.IGLTarget;

The second step is to add the getCompatabilityValue at the bottom of the file.
