Your system information

  • Steam client version: 3.7.17
  • SteamOS version: steamdeck
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: No
  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: No
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

I often use the steam deck when travelling on DB's ICE trains. Those provide free wlan/internet, but to actually use the wlan you need to click a button on a captive portal. When the steamdeck boots it detects the wlan, auto connects using the saved data and then seemingly tries to login for 3 minutes, until it defaults to offline and provide a message that the wlan requires an additional step.

Steps for reproducing this issue:

  1. Connect to a wlan with a captive portal
  2. log out/have the session expire
  3. reboot the steam deck while in range of the wlan.

It would be nice if SteamOS would treat a wlan with captive portal immediately as having no internet connection.
