git challenge

This is a great idea, Matthew. I think it would be easier for members of the group to find the repo if it were in the group account. Are you able to fork your project into the WestMichiganRubyTraining account? If not, let me know and I can setup a new team to attach you to so that you can own the repo under the group account. That way, any pull requests that come in from the repo on the WMRT group would come to you. Great work!

Yeah, this would be a valuable contribution. What we have now is an overview of how to use git. But what we need is a challenge with project files to accompany it. Maybe we should merge in Matthew's project and change the readme to the specific challenge points for the challenge. Then we can move the current readme into a tutorial file. Any other suggestions? We've been discussing how to separate challenges from tutorial material for a while now, and we really haven't reached a conclusion.

I think keeping the tutorial and related challenges in separate repos would maintain modularity and keep each element simple. @matthew-p referencing the tutorial in the README guides the user from one to the other, and the tutorial should definitely mention the challenge, to close that loop.

I do think the challenge repo should live within the organization to increase the chances of people finding it, if Matthew is OK with that. We could probably fork it in there without too much trouble.

@billgathen That way works too. That was the other direction we had discussed earlier. It wasn't clear before if we should conflate the challenge repo and tutorial materials or segment them out into separate repos. I'm actually for segmenting them out, because the structure would be a lot clearer, I think.

So should we just make a tutorial repo, then? It could closely mirror the challenge repo.

@atkolkma I like that format. A single "tutorials" repo and each thing there is a tutorial for has an associated challenge repo (presuming it needs one), with references back and forth.

I could see people going through the whole tutorials repo without actually doing the challenges for each. I don't recommend it ("We learn with our fingers!") but I could certainly see people doing it.
