future of this project

I am very interested in giving plato some love and reviving the project. I have a feeling this project is abandoned, and I am planning on making a hard fork and attempting to revive it.

I'm making this issue for awareness and to see if you have an alternative proposal. For example, transferring the project to an organization or granting write access to your repository.

If I don't hear back from you in about a week or so, I'll go ahead with the hard fork and post a link to it here.

This is very exciting! I hope you would still adhere to the philosophy of keeping things simple and not let the project become a poor-man's KOReader 😅. One of the things I would love to see is being able to seamlessly move to the next file without needing to close the file and manually going to the next one (great for binging comics/manga), also a sort method that prioritizes double digits before triple ones (01-99 before 100+).

I don't want to ping baskerville again, and I don't want to sit around and wait any longer.

I've created a basic discord server for collaboration: https://discord.gg/3AJHp6rV5a.

I am going to work on a soft-fork and implement some of the features that I am missing. Once that is done, I will re-asses if those features are welcomed to be up-streamed, since there seems to be some activity on this repo, or if I shall just move on with a hard-fork.

Soft-fork will be available at: https://github.com/OGKevin/plato. If it turns out a hard fork or project rename is needed , I'll send a request to Github for detaching the fork, and rename the project. This is for preserving any potential issue / PR's that might have been made on it.

The key things I want to implement before re-assessing the fork's position:

• being able to edit all the settings inside Plato itself - A settings editor application.

• basic gesture to action configuration (corner (double) tabs) - Think of KOReader's gesture manager
• features from:

Once I have this, I can replace KOReader with Plato, and than it makes sense to re-asses the fork's position.

The changes that I've seen @ewired work on I would also love to have:

• Remote display
• usetrmnl.com

This could be either implemented directly, or we make a RFC on some sort of plugin/extension system for these type of features.
So this would also factor into the fork's position. After this fork's position decision, it would be time to go through the list of open issue/PR's and road mapping in general.

The meaning of soft and hard fork:

• soft fork to me means collaboration with upstream and push as much changes upstream as possible.
  • this could still mean that there are 2 projects e.g. Plato & Plato "advanced" - Think of chromium and all the browsers build on top of it.
• hard fork to me means either:
  • same scenario as the chromium example, but without the upstream collaboration
  • a new project from an existing one
