It's semantically useful - it's used often in rules you want to execute just once. [ Even deterministically interpreting it to just take the first match would be ok for many purposes ^^ ]

Why would you like this? I can just remove random and make it a deterministic rule but it breaks the solver.
Instead of an error I can place a warning, saying that random keyword will be ignored and that the rule is interpreted deterministically?

Maybe we can add a rule 'once' that just matches the rule once. But PS is probably complicated enough already, what do you think?

Why does it break the solver? Random can be pseudo-deterministic, so it should be ok? (I get that it might explode the state space regardless). Many games just use random for visual effects, and often it's used to not very good effect.

However, I use it sometimes to indicate that I want a rule to be executed once only. (Like, place one tile on the map, for flags/tokens or whatever, often deleted before the end of the turn). A bit of a 'cheat', but useful sometimes...

You could just have random apply to the first match and then stop. 🙃
