vim-utils fails on malformed filename returned from nvim

The line that says filename = filename.split('\\').join('/'); fails when a buffer is empty (imagine restoring a session that had one empty tab with no saved file name).

Actually, this is failing when the filename is an array, not a string (vim sends back an array of numbers when asking for the filename sometimes?) There's some commented code that handles this edge case that would make this work.

Even when fixing that, it seems that Atom quickly looses connection and while the background nvim process is correctly handling the keystrokes, Atom isn't rendering file updates.
