Android 16, RSAF not appearing as accessible document provider

On Android 16, using a Galaxy Fold 7, RSAF doesn't appear as a document provider. This was possible on a previous device, but not currently. Not sure if I'm missing a setting, or it's a limitation with A16,

As it doesn't appear as a document provider, this limits its usability.

Workaround found.

Importing an existing rclone config appears to be the issue.

If you create the remotes brand new in app, then it works as expected.

Hmm, I'm not able to reproduce this (Android 16 QPR1 on a Pixel 10 Pro XL).

Is this consistently reproducible? If so, would you mind trying this and uploading the resulting log file?

1. Wipe RSAF's data
2. Enable debug mode by long pressing RSAF's version number
3. Import your rclone config
4. Confirm that RSAF doesn't appear as a document provider
5. Use RSAF's "Save logs" debug option

I'm not really sure what could be causing this. As far as I can tell, RSAF is notifying Android that the list of document roots was changed:

Just to make sure I'm testing the same way as you are, how are you checking that RSAF isn't appearing as a document provider? Are you trying to select a file/folder from another app and RSAF doesn't show up? (If so, which app?)

Hi there,

Right after importing the configuration, I use Mixplorer and Material Files to try to add a new doc provider.

RSAF mounts don't appear in the list.

I then delete all remotes from RSAF, recreate all of them manually, then repeat the above through Mixplorer and Material Files.

Visible at that point.

Thanks for explaining. Yeah, I'm not sure what is wrong then. I was testing with Material Files as well.

In the meantime, if you run into this again, you can probably work around it by going to any remote and toggling "Allow external app access" off and then back on. This will notify Android of the list of SAF roots again.

It is not an app itself but simply a shortcut to the already builtin filemanager which Android(?) or Google(?) decided to hide in their wisdom. With the builtin file manager you don't have to manually add the remotes as document providers as in Material Files. They are just there - assuming you have enabled external access in RSAF for these of course.

Thanks for the reply. I use this app as well. The built in file manager is already invoked when you try to add new shortcuts in either Material or Mix, so this doesn't help, as RSAF never showed the mounts with an imported config
