Subject: [PATCH] A few PHPUnit tests for others to easily add things while
 keeping behaviour fixed. Updated composer packages. Set minimum PHP to 5.4,
 since it uses short array syntax. Tested under PHP 5.4.45, 8.3.17, and 8.4.4
 on Windows.
