Suspiciously high CPU usage

Hello.

Using version 0.7.0 or 0.8.0 without the --no-sound flag, the CPU usage revolves around 2% (significantly more than alternatives like dunst, maco). Using version 0.8.0 with the --no-sound command line argument doesn't seem to have this issue. Is this expected?
