While reviewing an PR I saw that occt includes a pinning for itself (older version):

While this might not be a real problem, it's somehow confusing. So I would like to ask if this is a feature or if this can be removed?

This used to be a bug in conda smithy.

Not sure if it still happens, it might, but i believe it gets ignored/

The regex is a little buggy.

I believe packages now get picked up as a "used" variable in conda-build itself. There were a bunch of changes related to this that might have changed how outputs of the feedstock itself get misdiagnosed like that. I'm aware of:

• fix: ensure variable finding works properly and add unit tests for variable finding conda/conda-build#5535
• fix: use a more specific regex for jinja2 set/for statements conda/conda-build#5514
• fix: make sure to catch jinja2 vars used in single-line for and set statements conda/conda-build#5447

Perhaps there were other changes too. CC @beckermr
