I experienced the same thing. I couldn't wait too long or I would lose my streak too.

I did not know that trick. I had two 70+ streaks broken by delayed puzzles.

Daily target is now up. Few things to note:

Streaks are not connected to Daily targets. Daily targets have their own schedule (12am UTC - next day 12am UTC). Whereas streak means playing any target in your local timezone (12am to nextday 12am).

I understand that but its frustrating when the 5 hours that are the difference for me between the 12 am UTC (7PM) and 12PM are the only times I can actually work on it but the target doesn't unlock so I lose my streak, you'd think that people should get a pass for times like that, not all of us are ready to spend money to get a PLUS membership.
