Muffled sounds when they shouldn't be

version of minecraft forge, 1.12.2 14.23.5.2847

version of mod, 1.0.4-1.12.1-rolloff

also using dynamic surroundings.

issue, footsteps on snow, grass, and possibly other surfaces sound way too muffled.

please help?
