Feature Request: Support for Boot Logo Generation for Carpuride W603

Description

Enhance the logo generator tool to support the Carpuride W603 device by generating boot logos in the required format.

Requirements

• Image resolution: 1560x720
• Image DPI: 96 ppi

Installation Process

1. Prepare a MicroSD card and ensure it is empty.
2. Place the generated image file on the MicroSD card with the name boot_jpg.
3. Insert the MicroSD card into the W603 while it is powered off.
4. Power on the W603.
5. The device should display a message confirming that the boot logo has been updated.

Expected Outcome

• The logo generator tool should be able to create boot logos that are correctly recognized by the Carpuride W603.
• The installation process should work seamlessly as per the provided steps.

Additional Notes

• If the W603 requires a specific image format (e.g., JPEG compression settings), these should be documented.
• Further testing may be needed to confirm compatibility.

Do you maybe have an example of such JPG you could share, so I could investigate further? Also, would you like to test images my tool would generate? I unfortunately don't have my own W603 to test so I can't check whether JPGs put out by generator would work.

Hi @domints
I have attached the image Carpuride sent me after requesting this boot logo.

The thing is that I tried to create an image with the same resolution, DPP, and RGB profile.
I tried them in the Carpuride but they didn't work. If I modify the jpg they provided and save it, it works, but not if the image has been re-exported after e,g, working with layers in Photoshop.

I was wondering if maybe there is some kind of meta-data that needs to be added to the image but I don't know.
Probably you'll have more experience with the format/restrictions that Carpuride is using for this.

Can you rename the file by adding .bin or .zip or .dat or sth so Github doesn't recompress it? Essentially to make sure github doesn't see it as an image and doesn't try doing anything with it :) Thanks :)

Hmm, so it essentially doesn't have ANY metadata :D It's as pure as it can be :)

Would you mind uploading maybe the image that didn't work? I'd look into its metadata too to try and see if technicalities are the same (like encoding etc)

So there's decent chance it is actually encoding!

I'll try to create some boot logo with this Baseline DCT later on and might send you to try, would that be ok?

By the way, did you maybe by any chance asked them about firmware update and you got the files? That might also give me some hints on how that image loader works! :D

About firmware, I did not request an update :(
it's really new, currently I've got 2024xxxx version

Would you like to try it? Nothing special, but hopefully it'll work right :) To be honest it's kind of tricky to find library that would generate correct JPG, since that's kind of obscure format :D

Note:
From another user I got image for 603, which he generated himself and worked for him out of the box. Turns out his software created baseline encoded file and it's fine. Maybe it's all that's needed:

I tried also 2 version of a boot logo but non of these worked well in putting on card. Did you have any Ideas?

Hi Just want to add onto this as i have a W712D, this helped me massively get a custom boot screen on my device

it was all the same as the 603 in this thread, main points i noticed was

File size needed to remain under 100kB
File name needed to be boot_logo.jpg
Encoding needed to be Baseline DCT, Huffman coding
Aspect ratio required = 1024 x 600

If i stuck with the following it worked attached is what i made for my Kawasaki versys motorbike dubbed venom :D
