Catalog cache

It would be neat if misses in the catalogue could trigger a refresh of the catalogue cache and/or be similar to a read-through cache. I.e. in a multitenancy setup, new schemas arrive here and there, and we'd like to handle these caching issues as close to the cache as possible. If this idea is not appalling, I'd gladly attempt a PR. Not a blocker or for us or anything if not interested!
