Description

Hi team,
I would like to report a specific performance issue. I’ve noticed that when the Files app is running in the background, working in Blender 3D becomes unresponsive and "choppy."

The issue:
When transforming objects (moving/grabbing in both 3D Viewport and 2D editors), I experience frequent stuttering and micro-freezes. The dragging motion stops completely for about a second and then suddenly snaps/resumes.

Environment:

OS: Windows 11

GPU: NVIDIA 5090
Blender version: 5.0.1

Files app version: 4.0.28.0

Best regards,
Miso Nemcek

Steps To Reproduce

Steps To Reproduce:

  1. Open the Files app and keep it running (minimized or on a second monitor).

  2. Launch Blender 3D.

  3. Create or open any scene with 2D or 3D objects.

  4. Grab an object (press G) and try to move it around the viewport continuously for a few seconds.

  5. Observe the periodic stuttering/freezing (the object stops following the cursor for about 1 second, then snaps back).

  6. Close the Files app, restat Windows and try repeat the movement – the stuttering disappears.
