Using CodeQL as IDE linter

Hi, is it possible to use CodeQL in vscode like an ordinary linter?

If you query the security and quality pack only, it could be, still requires a locally built DB which for large local projects could be useful. The other Linting tools would probably be faster, since codeQL natively produces a sarif and the others produce human readable artifacts.
