Hi everyone,
I am using the HERO13 Black to record road tracks where high positional accuracy is critical. My goal is to achieve the absolute highest precision possible.
Crucially, I want to avoid manual synchronization in post-production. I am looking for a solution where the high-precision location data is either improved natively or captured synchronously during recording.
I have the following questions regarding the limits of the hardware and Labs firmware:
Improving Internal GPS Performance
Lock Speed: Is there a Labs command to force the GPS to "warm up" (acquire lock) immediately upon boot, well before I press the record button? I need the GPS to be fully active the moment I start driving.
Precision: Is there a setting to increase the polling rate or prioritize GPS accuracy over power consumption?
Real-Time External GPS Integration (No Post-Sync) I am aware of external loggers, but I do not want to manually align timestamps in post.
Direct Injection: Is it possible to connect an external high-precision GNSS/RTK module (via USB-C or Bluetooth) so that the GoPro uses that data instead of its internal sensor? I want the external data written directly into the video file's GPMF metadata stream.
Hardware Synchronization: If direct data injection isn't possible, is there a hardware solution (like using the Media Mod or specific Labs triggers) that creates a "hard sync" between the GoPro and an external logger at the moment of recording?
I am looking to understand the maximum possibilities of the HERO13 architecture for professional tracking.
Thanks!
