Setup ProxPatch on same proxlb vm to manage cluster

I'm wondering what would be the configuration file to setup the proxpatch on the same vm as proxlb to manage the cluster update.

Is this something that can be done ? I can't find in the configuration.md a way to do this.

Hey @KernelChief,

right now, this only works if both applications (ProxLB and ProxPatch) are installed on the same PVE host - and it must be a PVE host. ProxPatch itself is designed to be mostly config-less, but without providing any API information, it must run on one (any of them but really only one instance of it) of the PVE nodes. If ProxLB is also directly installed there, it auto detects everything.

For future releases, it's planned that ProxPatch can communicate with ProxLB by an own API which I will implement into ProxLB in credativ/ProxLB#60. Sorry for the sad news, but this requires adjustments on both sides.

I'll keep this issue open until this got integrated into ProxPatch.

Currently my proxlb is on a debian vm in the cluster to be independent, I think it could live and be in the same vm for proxpatch, so it is independent of the host and would always be on, it's my thinking.

ProxPatch is config-less, which means it must run on a PVE node. It cannot run in a VM, because all access to the hypervisors would fail.

ProxPatch is an approach for “click-ops” migrators to avoid any dealing with config files.
