Asynchronous programming

Is there a chapter on Asynchronous Programming ? Huge fan of the book btw.

First, thanks—always appreciate the kind words. 😁

We actually did have a chapter that covered async/await back in the 3rd edition. We had to cut it from the 4th edition back in 2019 because we had to cut down the book length by from almost 1100 pages to around 750.

I really, really want to update the Events and Delegates downloadable chapter to add about 10 pages on async/await. I have a bunch of projects I need to finish first, but I'll keep this issue open to track that. I'm really hoping to get that done sometime soon (famous last words).

Keep an eye on this issue. I'll update it once I get that chapter updated. Which will definitely not be in the immediate future, but hopefully in the next couple of months.

In the meantime, I've attached the async/await chapter from the 3rd edition. Unfortunately, we fully embraced Windows Store apps witn the 3rd edition—that tech was Microsoft's "bold attempt to unify apps across PCs, tablets, and phones under one slick, touch-first design" that launched with Windows 8, and unforutnately, it means the chapter relies on a bunch of technology nobody uses anymore.
