Description
I recently switched from a ChimeraOS/Windows dual-boot setup to Bazzite on my mini PC.
I installed Clone Hero via Lutris and connected a guitar controller using raphnet adapters. During a short test session I noticed that I regularly get a popup from Handheld Daemon. I haven’t been able to clearly identify the trigger, but I suspect it is caused by a specific button combination or input sequence on the guitar controller.
The behavior appears to stop completely when I run:
systemctl stop hdd.service
To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what this project is supposed to do (or whether I will ever need it — I suspect not). However, it is quite disruptive that it activates for this type of hardware.
This raises a few questions for me:
- Could the popup introduce some kind of blacklist or “ignore this device” option, allowing users to indicate that the daemon should never react to a specific device?
- Why doesn’t the project already blacklist this type of device by default?
- If this project is intended for handheld devices, why is it running on my mini PC?
- Is it safe to permanently disable this service? I try to treat my system as much as possible like an appliance.
Finally: should this issue be reported to hhd (Handheld Daemon) or to Bazzite?
