hackinOS provides two types of installation files for all macOS versions:

- πΏ IMG/DMG File (.img / .dmg) β Create a bootable USB installer using balenaEtcher
Both methods work for every macOS version from High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, Sonoma, Sequoia, to Tahoe.

The .rdr file is a ready-to-restore macOS disk image.
Once restored, your drive will contain:
- A full macOS installation
- A preconfigured EFI folder π§©
- Bootable immediately π
However, you must adjust the EFI to match your hardware for proper functionality.
Select the version you want (High Sierra β Tahoe).
- Choose the HDD/SSD/NVMe where macOS will be installed.
β οΈ This process erases the entire drive. Be sure to back up your data.
Launch the software.
Inside R-Drive:
- Click βRestore Imageβ π
- Select the
.rdrfile - Select your target drive π½
- Click Start β‘
When completed, the drive is fully bootable with macOS. π
The restored image includes a prebuilt EFI folder π§©.
However, every Hackintosh system requires hardware-specific configuration.
After restoring, mount the EFI partition to:
- 𧬠Update OpenCore
- π¦ Add or replace required kexts
- π Edit
config.plist(ProperTree or OCC) - βοΈ Adjust GPU settings, ACPI patches, USB mapping, SecureBootModel, etc.
(Use balenaEtcher to flash the image to a USB drive)
The .img/.dmg file is a ready-made macOS USB installer.
Flash β Plug β Boot.
An EFI folder is included, but you still need to customize it for your system.
Available for all versions from High Sierra β Tahoe.
- Minimum: 16GB
- Recommended: 32GB for stable performance
Download the latest version if you donβt have it.
Inside Etcher:
- Click βFlash from fileβ π β select the
.img/.dmg - Click βSelect targetβ π½ β choose your USB
- Click βFlashβ β‘
Once complete, your USB is ready to boot macOS. π
The USB includes an EFI folder π§©, but you must tailor it to match your hardware:
- CPU (Intel or AMD)
- GPU (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA Kepler)
- Chipset / motherboard
- Wi-Fi / Bluetooth
- SSD/NVMe
- ACPI / Trackpad requirements
After flashing:
- 𧬠Update OpenCore
- π¦ Add necessary kexts
- π Edit
config.plist - βοΈ Check USB mapping, NVRAM settings, Secure Boot Model, GPU patches, etc.

You can use both RDR and IMG/DMG methods for any macOS version from High Sierra up to Tahoe.
