WordPress Speculation Rules plugin

Since WP core team released a plugin for WP with the new speculation rules supported https://wordpress.org/plugins/speculation-rules/ I think it would be useful to document/clarify what instant.page's WP plugin does better/differently

The latest version of the instant.page script (if you take it from GitHub) does speculative loading if the browser supports it.
You should also check: #130
So, it's better to use instant.page than the WP plugin as this script will do speculative loading where the browser supports it otherwise use the old link tag to prefetch.

Their plugin has been merged into WP Core with WordPress 6.8 (released today) so it's no longer a question of either/or but now your script & plugin should recognize which WP version is in use & work together so there's not conflicting functionality. Please review ASAP. Thanks!

There is no conflict. One HTML page can have multiple <script type="speculationrule> in it, which is fully valid. Also give this a read: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/62503#comment:15

So, in short, other systems can either leverage WP hooks to add more things to the WP core speculation rule, but alternatively if you find it not good enough or don't like the way WP core has implemented it then you can add your own specuulation rule overwriting the WP core one and is fully valid.
