[Performance] Slow Startup (25s vs 8s) on Ubuntu 22.04 with RTX 5080 - Renderer & Metrics Timeout

Hi everyone,

I am experiencing a significantly slower startup time with Isaac Sim compared to a colleague's machine with the exact same hardware configuration.

My startup time: ~25 seconds

Colleague's startup time: ~8 seconds

No matter how I launch Isaac Sim (via pip installation using isaacsim.exp.full.kit or the pre-built ./isaac-sim.selector.sh), the delay persists.

System Configuration:

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5080

OS: Ubuntu 22.04

Isaac Sim Version: 5.1.0 (Full)

Log Analysis: Upon checking the startup logs, I identified two specific bottlenecks that consume the most time:

1. Renderer Initialization Delay (~5 seconds) It takes about 5 seconds to attach the default app window.

2. Metrics Extension Timeout (~10 seconds) The omni.services.facilities.monitoring.metrics extension seems to hang for exactly 10 seconds, likely due to a network timeout.

Questions:

The 10s delay in monitoring.metrics looks like a network timeout. Is there a proper argument or configuration to completely disable this extension or telemetry to skip this wait?
Regarding the 5s delay in omni.kit.renderer.plugin, what could cause this difference on identical hardware? (I am not running in headless mode).
Any advice on how to optimize these two stages would be appreciated. Thanks!

To better understand why your system is slower than your colleague’s with the same hardware, could you please share full startup logs from both machines (captured from a clean launch of Isaac Sim 5.1.0 Full using the same startup method)?

Once we have side‑by‑side logs and these environment details, it will be easier to see what the metrics extension and renderer are doing differently between the two setups and whether disabling or reconfiguring metrics is appropriate.
