JSON Serializer Support?

It looks like previous versions of the plugin had JSON serializer support. Are there plans to add that to the grails 3 compatible plugin?

I'm getting the java.io.NotSerializableException when trying to decode a JWT. This was mentioned in the link above when discussing the old plugin.
