Here are my notes from the session + discussion that followed. Putting them here for now:

• Transactional vs. non-transactional (but is transactional bad? Sometimes we may prefer that)
• Emphasis may be to make friends with people who are doing this same thing
• Organize around friendships (e.g. open-source, hackerspace) and community is the valuable thing
• GitHub Org page UI features projects and deemphasizes the community
• Airbnb vs. Couchsurfing as example of transactional vs. relationship-building
• Reputation may be like a transaction spread over long periods of time (e.g. user feedback)
• Sky-facing (we need to go to Mars) vs. Earth-facing technologies
