no keybaord input during debian install on asus transformer prime keyboard

when installing the minimal debian install it gets to the point where it wants me to Choose Y,N,D to determine if I want to use the existing package sources or the ones from the repo.
I can not choose a keyboard option. If I undock the keyboard it locks the apt system and then upon rebooting the tablet it will not boot.
