New paradigms for Object Capabilities

This is just a heads-up issue to show appreciation for this project, even if it is unmaintained. And to make you aware that there's much excitement and R&D progress exploring new paradigms of distributed computing based on Object Capabilities.

Nice. I have mentioned that on the Spritely IRC channel and on the forum. An open forum discussion is about choosing languages for a reference implementation, where I suggested Elixir (I also pinged Jose Valim on the Fediverse).

Maybe @zenhack can point to concrete use cases. He maintains the Haskell impl of Cap'n Proto.

You could write sandstorm apps :P.

I think I can only do so much to inspire @kaos; my own implementations (I also maintain the Go implementation) tend to be more active when seeing downstream use too.

Looking at the meeting notes for OCapN I'd like to mention that Diana Thayer ( @garbados ) of CouchDB erlang project was also present. From their intro:

I'm Diana, am a CouchDB maintainer, interested in distributed protocols, IPFS, etc, very interested in spritely, goblins, ocapn, because what I believe they can provide paradigmatically to distributed systems programming.

@kaos If you're in search of a real use case, Bonfire contains implementations of both ActivityPub (for federation) and ValueFlows and everyone keeps saying ocaps is what we need...

@mayel @kaos I'm very interested and want to work on the combination of ocaps, ActivityPub, and Valueflows. Might want to start with distributed transactions (in the sense of distributed atomic units of work, or 2-phase commit, or distributed consensus - more like database transactions than financial transactions, but they could be financial).

Hope that word salad communicated.

But anyway, is anybpdy working on, or thinking about, anything like that in the ocap space?
