Mobile responsivity issue

We use webcdi to collect data and love it! We have just started encountering an issue when we try to administer the survey on an iPad (or parents try to take it on their phone), specifically with the dropdown menus in the background information, where prompts start overlapping each other making it difficult to make selections and advance (see screenshot).

We have tried safari and chrome on Mac products (an iPad and an iPhone), as well as an android phone, and the issue persists.

I'm thinking about 50 hours but when I google updating a midsized system to a responsive website I'm getting answers between 100 and 200 hours. Please confirm you would like me to progress before I start. I am only thinking about the participant side and not the researcher side.

Hi Henry, we'll discuss and get back to you. This does sound like a big job. I guess the question is whether we can sort out this specific issue without too much work to make the instrument at least usable... but maybe that's tricky.

I've seen another email with concerns over readability. Perhaps I could look at the one page and try to improve it. Give me a limited number of hours and I'll do what I can in that time.

Thanks for checking in - we had been considering asking a contractor we work with to do some responsiveness CSS work. I'll try to figure this out soon.

I am not 100% certain but I think I have sorted it quickly with a complete rewrite. The problem seems to happen on the expandable sections only and I think I have put in a fix for these. Please check and let me know

@HenryMehta Thanks to @vic-moreno we have tested on a ipad on testing.webcdi.org. Good news: The overlapping text is gone!!

Bad news: It looks like the more specific information required for the questions don't pop up at all on Language Exposure and the other Health questions. So, no pops ups at all. If you say "yes" It won't let you complete because you didn't complete the information, but the places to add the information don't show up. If you leave "no" it lets you complete.

Vic is ALSO having this issue in webcdi.org on the TABLET with all pop ups, but I can see them on webcdi.org on a laptop/computer. That's what most users are using, but no pop-ups on the Tablet on either testing or regular webcdi. HELP!

@vmarchman I am unable to replicate this issue (I don't have an iPad so I am using an emulator).

Can you get an image for me. Can you also give me the details of one of the studies having the issue so I can look at the setup

Hi @HenryMehta and cc @vic-moreno @mcfrank We tested again on two different iPads. An older one (5th generation) using iOS 10.3.3 still had the problem with the pop-ups not showing up. A newer iPad had no problems. @HenryMehta any chance that you could try emulators that are using this older iOS to see if you could generate the problem? Thanks.

I have managed to find an iPhone5 SE emulator running iOS 10.3.1. It is still working for me with this emulation. Which browser are you using on the older iPad and do you get the same results with Chrome and Safari. They have different browser code and so one might work but not the other.

Hi! I was using Safari on both devices. I just switched to Chrome on the older iPad and this time the pop-ups showed up, but were overlapping and difficult to read. I've attached a screenshot here:
